Mrs. Kimberly Martin-Boyd
GET TO KNOW HER
Mrs. Boyd was born and raised in Central Illinois and is proud to say she was a member of the FIRST graduating class from Normal West High School. Mrs. Boyd has received three degrees from Illinois State University (Go Redbirds!), Bachelors of Music Education, Master of Music Education and a Master of Science in Educational Administration. Currently she is working on a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning also through ISU.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Mrs. Boyd is excited to return to Evans Jr. High school as Principal. Her prior teaching experiences include teaching orchestra in Unit 5 schools (most recently Normal West) and a brief amount of teaching at the collegiate level. Starting in Unit 5 in 2001 Mrs. Boyd has loved getting to know the amazing students, teachers and families in Unit 5.
Outside of school Mrs. Boyd is currently serving as the International President of Delta Omicron, a professional music fraternity and on the board of directors for the Professional Fraternity Association. Still wanting to be involved in music Mrs. Boyd serves at her church as the director of instrumental music for worship services.
Mrs. Boyd married her high school sweetheart Chad Boyd and they live in Normal with their two sons, Killian and Cohen who also attend Unit 5 Schools. Mr. Boyd is employed by Centec Systems in Bloomington, Illinois. As a family they love some friendly board game competition and traveling when time (and money) allows. The Boyds currently have 2 cats and an adorable Chi-Weenie at home.
IN JUNIOR HIGH
The ironic part of Mrs. Boyd working at a junior high is that she did NOT LOVE junior high. Shocking right? Her favorite class was definitely orchestra and she loved meeting new people, but overall, not her best years, and definitely not her best hair styles. She loves working to make sure the students she meets have the opposite experience and find something to love about their own junior high experience. Fun fact - Mrs. Boyd actually went to junior high with her husband!

Mr. Terry Gliege
GET TO KNOW HIM
Mr. Gliege grew up in the Chicago suburbs and graduated from Victor J. Andrew High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in Secondary Education English from ISU in 2004 and began his teaching career in Chicago Public Schools before moving to the Bloomington area in 2008 to teach at Normal West High School. At West, he was in the English classroom for ten years before accepting a position as the Assistant Principal for students with last names H-O, and served in that capacity for six years.
Mr. Gliege is married and has two fantastic kids who are involved in a multitude of activities from solving staged murder mysteries to playing soccer and the viola, and from pickleball/tennis to mastering various Roblox games. He also has one extremely furry child named Benny, who has an ongoing unofficial war against all of the squirrels in Mr. Gliege's neighborhood.
In his free time, Mr. Gliege enjoys reading, just about all sports, traveling, and trying new foods.
IN JUNIOR HIGH
My favorite subject was English/Reading where I first read "The Hobbit" and went on to read The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. My junior high was also very small and my high school was very big, so I want to help students prepare for the transition to the large high schools that we have in our district, so that they can grow to be the best that they can be.

He earned his Bachelor's degrees in chemistry and biochemistry from Knox College, his Master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign, and his doctorate in teaching and learning from Illinois State University. Dr. Burt is married and has a two-year-old who relentlessly shares his love for all things Toy Story and Thomas the Tank Engine with us and with our dog, Belle, who both loves joining us on walks or hikes and is always up for being chased through the yard by her human sibling. In his free time, Dr. Burt enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, reading, hiking, and traveling whenever possible.
IN JUNIOR HIGH
My favorite subjects in junior high were Reading and Spanish. My love for travel was fostered early as I was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in a foreign exchange program that allowed me (and a small handful of fellow 6th graders) to enroll in a school in Mexico City and stay with a host family. Later, my family and I were able to return the favor by hosting the junior high student whose family hosted me at the end of the school year. This experience helped to open my eyes to the worlds that existed beyond the community I grew up in and made me excited to explore new places.
